Town of Ridgway
Project Description:
When Ridgway’s Town Planner resigned, CPS stepped in to ensure a seamless transition. We immediately took over in-process applications, collaborated with the Town’s development review team, and brought proven expertise in planning best practices.
Our role included reviewing building permits for zoning compliance, guiding applicants through pre-application meetings, managing development reviews, drafting staff reports, and providing clear code interpretations for the Town Manager.
Beyond development review, we updated Ridgway’s Landscape Regulations through community input and technical research—creating cost-effective, water-wise standards tailored to the local climate. The result: practical, sustainable regulations and a smooth planning process the community could trust.
After assisting in the development of a 2024 work plan, the Town entrusted the CPS team to research, facilitate, and develop updates to the Town’s parking regulations, accessory dwelling units, and affordable housing provisions. Through extensive research of best practicies and peer community case studies, work shops with the Planning Commission, and public meetings, the Town Council adopted significant changes to the Town’s parking standards and accessory dwelling unit standards to reflect the community values.
In mid-2024, a full-time Town Planner was hired by the Town. Because CPS had become a trusted entity in Town Hall as well as around the Ridgway community, CPS’s role shifted to take on a support role. CPS’s ability to adjust and respond to changing needs has allowed the Town to pursue projects and initiatives they wouldn’t otherwise have been able to accomplish.
