Project Description:

When the Town of Mount Crested Butte experienced unexpected turnover in key positions—including the Town Manager, Attorney, and Deputy Community Development Director—several complex development applications were left in process. CPS was brought in to provide immediate, high-level planning support and ensure continuity.

Through a structured onboarding process, CPS established clear communication protocols, met with project teams, and reviewed each application in detail. Our senior planners stepped in as the Town’s acting planning staff, preparing staff reports and presentations, facilitating meetings, and coordinating with referral agencies, applicants, and Town staff.

As the Town began to fill vacancies, CPS continued managing three major projects from application intake through final review, providing stability during the transition and ensuring timely, consistent decision-making.
