Staff Training.

Town of Parachute

Project Description:

As development activity increased in Parachute, Town staff were frequently approached by residents seeking guidance on property improvements, building permits, and land use applications. Staff recognized that they needed a stronger understanding of the development process and relevant regulations to provide accurate, confident guidance while maintaining excellent customer service.

To address this need, CPS designed a half-day training session to build internal capacity and establish a baseline of knowledge for staff. The session covered:

  • Land use and development application processes

  • Purpose and impacts of different application types

  • Application review procedures and tasks

  • References to Parachute Municipal Code and Land Use Regulations

  • Practical scenarios to apply knowledge in real-world situations

After completing the training, staff were better equipped to assist residents, ask the right questions, and ensure complete, accurate application submittal which enhanced both efficiency and public service.

The training also fostered stronger collaboration among staff members by creating a shared understanding of planning procedures and regulations. With a consistent knowledge base, the team can respond more effectively to inquiries, provide clearer guidance to residents, and streamline internal processes. This foundation ensures that the Town of Parachute is well-prepared to manage growth while maintaining transparency and trust with the community.

Following the training, CPS continued to support Town staff through the creation of flowcharts, handouts, guides, and other “cheat sheets” to assist in front counter services.
